Why coconut oil?

Coconut oil is dairy and wheat free. Firstly it contains lauric acid which is a medium chain fatty acid. Mothers’ milk also contains lauric acid so how great is that for a lactation cookie! It’s also known as an antifungal, antiviral and anti microbial. Another great attribute for a breastfeeding mother.

Although it is a saturated fat it does not contribute to weight gain as there is no need for it to be emulsified with bile acids from the liver rather it is digested in the gut and helps provide energy. Victoria's Secret supermodel Miranda Kerr attributes it to helping her weight loss after having her baby and has 4 tsp a day! It’s great for hair and skin as well.

Why buckwheat flour?

Buckwheat flour is high in b vitamins, high in lysine, phosphorus, magnesium, iron zinc and cooper. It’s a great source of Alpha-Linolenic acid which is one of the two essential fatty acids we want to be healthy. It’s high in fibre. It contains the eight essential amino acids. It’s a rich supply of flavonoids and best of all its gluten free!

Why oats?

Oats provide dietary fibre to help relive constipation, which is very helpful for a lot of pregnant women. It’s a good source of essential vitamins such as thiamine, folic acid, biotin and vitamin e. They also have a low glycemic index which means you’ll have longer lasting energy!

Why linseeds?

Linseeds are a rich source of omega 3 essential fatty acids. Provide vitality and energy, Omega 3 fatty acids can help prevent excess toxic biochemical’s that the body produces under stress, making it great for stressed parents.

How many Feeding cookies should I have a day to improve my lactation?

We suggest that if you are having problems with lactation you have three a day for the first few days and then one a day should be sufficient. This should be done in combination with all the other advice your health practitioner has given you such as regular feedings from both breasts and the use of a breast pump.

What herbs are in the Feeding cookie?

We’ve included both Fenugreek and Fennel in our feeding cookie. These are both well known galactagogues and have been used for many years as a herbal remedy to promote healthy lactation. Not only can they help stimulate milk flow but can be used to counteract infant colic either being consumed by the mother or directly by the infant.

What’s special about the Pregnancy cookie?

We’ve used ginger and chia seeds to support a pregnant mother’s nutrition. There are endless reasons why this is great to have in our pregnancy cookie. It helps to relieve nausea, heartburn, motion sickness, migraine relief and is great in aiding cold and flu prevention. Chia seeds are one of nature’s only complete proteins. They are nutritious and provide you with calcium and protein making them fabulous for the pregnant mother. They are rich in boron which helps your body to assimilate the calcium. They are high in Omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, iron, niacin and zinc.

What’s special about the Family cookie?

We’ve included kawakawa leaf extract and blackcurrant syrup to help boost your families’ immune system. Kawakawa has long been used as a popular treatment for colds and influenza. It’s also great to aid stimulation and is anti fungal. And blackcurrants are a rich source of vitamin C, so another great way to boost your families’ immune system.
